山东省千佛山医院始建于1960年。经过近50年的开拓创新，现已发展成为专业布局合理、科室设置齐全、技术力量雄厚、医疗设备先进、服务质量优良，集医疗、教学、科研、康复、保健、预防、急救于一体的省级大型综合性三级甲等医院。医院隶属山东省卫生厅，为山东大学非隶属附属医院，占地近10万平方米，医院设有临床、医技科室50余个，编制床位1400张，开放床位1100张，全院资产总额10亿余元。现有在职职工1700余人，其中副高级以上职称专业技术人员300余人，博士、硕士生导师120多名，山东大学等兼职教授、副教授120余人。由澳大利亚世界著名建筑方案设计师设计的门诊综合楼，单体建筑面积51000平方米，是一座现代化、智能化水平较高，具有国际水准的门诊综合大楼，为医院加快发展提供了良好条件和强劲动力，开创了医院发展的新纪元。
多年来，医院始终坚持走“培养名医、造就名科、打造名院”的发展路子，使医院的学科建设和技术创新走在了省内前列，并以此提高了医院的核心竞争力。普通外科、心血管疾病介入治疗中心、普外中心重点实验室为山东省医药卫生重点学科，是医院的传统技术强项；中风病专业联合中医科、神经内科、神经外科被国家中医局评为国家中医药管理局“十一五”中风病重点专科、山东省中医局中风病重点专科，康复医学科为国家中医药管理局“十一五”腰腿痛病重点建设单位。另外，医院设立5个重点学科及7个优势专科，重点投入，重点建设，带动医院快速、可持续发展。
医院先后荣获 “首批全国百姓放心示范医院”、“全国医院文化建设先进单位”、“省级文明单位”、“全省医德医风示范医院”、“山东省百姓口碑最佳荣誉单位”、“山东省十佳诚信医院”、“山东省医院管理先进集体”、“山东省百佳医院”等荣誉称号，并被确定为“国际爱婴医院”、“国际紧急救援中心网络医院”、“山东省慈善医院”。医院现为山东大学非隶属附属医院，并承担着山东中医药大学、潍坊医学院、泰山医学院、滨州医学院、省医学高等专科学校等多所高中等院校的临床实习教学任务。同时，山东省普外质控中心、山东省营养质控中心、山东省肝病会诊咨询中心、山东省病理质控中心、山东省牙病防治指导中心、山东省口腔保健中心也附设在该院。
器官移植、腔镜微创手术及介入治疗技术已发展成为医院的三大特色技术品牌。2007年，经国家卫生部专家评审，医院同时获得开展心脏、肝脏、肾脏三种器官移植的准入资格，成为全省唯一一家同时获得三种器官移植的医院和全省唯一一家准许开展心脏移植的医院，并获得山东省泰山学者岗位。新建成并投入使用的急救中心布局合理、设备一流、人才队伍和技术力量雄厚，被济南市“120”急救中心确定为全省唯一一家省级医院“120”分中心。检验科设有ISO15189实验室认可的检验室，药剂科被定为全国临床药师制首批试点单位，妇产科成立全省首家妇女健康管理中心。另外，医院在妇科肿瘤治疗、骨关节疾病、神经外科疾病、病理诊断、脑卒中肢体康复、白内障治疗等多方面都确立了自己的优势和特色。

An Introduction to Qianfoshan Hospital in Shandong, China
Qianfoshan Hospital was established in 1960. Over time, it evolves to be a large general hospital, directly overseen by the Shandong Bureau of Health and ranked as at the highest level of overall competency as a hospital. The hospital provides multiple services including medical treatment, health care, teaching, research, rehabilitation, health promotion, disease prevention and acute & emergency care.
Qianfoshan Hospital is situated to the north of Qianfo Mountain in Jinan, Shandong Province. It covers an area of 100,000 square meters, while the newly constructed building for Outpatient Department is 51,000 square meters. The hospital is constituted of more than 50 clinical and technical departments and equipped with 1,000 open beds. As estimated, its total asset is around Chinese Yuan 800 millions. Different diagnostic and therapeutic devices are equipped with which cost approximately Chinese Yuan 300 millions, of which more than 500 devices cost over Chinese Yuan 100,000 each.
There are more than 1,200 employees in the Qianfoshan Hospital. A lot of them are prestigious doctors and scholars, e.g. Prof. Li Zhao-ting (expertise in General Surgery), Prof. Lin Shao-fang (expertise in Cardiovascular Diseases), Prof. Bi Yu-hua (expertise in Hepatopathy Surgery), and Prof. Gao Zhong-yu (expertise in Pathology).
Prof. Li Zhao-ting separated General Surgery Department into four specialized divisions, i.e. Liver & Gall, Gastrointestine, Periphery Vessel and Thyroid & Breast, in 1983. Four of his subordinates take leadership in the area of General Surgery, and then the General Surgery Department grows up to be the leading disciplinary division in Shandong Province. In present the department is operated by a group of highly competent young or middle-aged doctors and nurses.
The Invasive Therapy Center for Cardiovascular Diseases is also one of the key leading disciplinary divisions in Shandong Provision. It is led by prestigious expert doctors such as Lin Shao-fang, Yu Tian, Lou Zi-mo and so forth. The centre is well known in the early detection of Acute Myocardiac Infarction, in the diagnosis and treatment of Heart Diseases as well as in the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation and other Cardiac Arrhythmia through Radio Frequency. Upon continuous efforts, the Center becomes one of the best divisions in Cardiovascular Surgery. Historically, there emerged a famous surgeon, i.e. Wang Chun-xiang, who was named as Red Candle In Medical World.
Led by Prof. Liu Shu-shan, Neurosurgery Department is now playing emphasis on developing the rehabilitation center for cerebrovascular diseases by integrating the strength in Neurosurgery, Neurology and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This department can undertake difficult or complicate surgical procedures in the treatment of craniocerebral neoplasma, cerebral trauma and cerebrovascular angioma.
Orthopaediology Surgery Department is constituted of three specialty divisions, i.e. Spinal Surgery, Joint Surgery and Traumatic Surgery. Prof. Lu Hou-shan, the previous CEO of Beijing University Renmin Hospital, is the advisor of this department. Led by the Medical Director, Prof. Zhang Ming, the department is able to conduct different surgical procedures. Of peculiar, the department is well-known at the anthroscopic procedures and hip or knee replacement.
Ophthalmology Department, led by Prof. Dang Jia-fu, is competent at treating cataract, retinal problems and corpris vitre problems. These surgical treatment techniques are ranked as best in Shandong Province.
In particular, Organ Transplantation is one of the key service areas in Qianfoshan Hospital which makes continuing efforts in developing it. In 2007 Qianfoshan Hospital obtained the official approval, from the Ministry of Health, to conduct Heart, Liver and Kidney Transplantation. This makes the hospital the unique organization in Shandong Province which is able to conduct Heart Transplantation, and the hospital is also the unique in gaining the approval of providing three types of organ transplantation at the same time. A number of mixed transplantation, e.g. heart-kidney, liver-kidney, has been performed. The development of organ transplantations advances the strength in the other areas of services including Liver & Gall Surgery, Gastrointestinal Medicine, Nephrology, Cardiac Surgery & Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, etc..
Microtraumatic Surgery is another key service area in Qianfoshan Hospital. Therapies through endoscopies and laparoscopies is characterized by less pain, less injuries, better therapeutic outcomes, shorter hospital stay and less cost in comparison with traditional surgical procedures. More than 70% of clinical departments in the hospital provide these microtraumatic services, e.g. the departments of Gastrointestine Surgery, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Ear-Nose-Throat.
Additionally, the Qianfoshan Hospital is famous at some other areas, e.g. pathology, cancer therapy, liver diseases management, diseases prevention and health promotion. The Pathology Department was founded by the nationally famous pathologist Prof. Gao Zhong-yu, and now led by Prof. Sun Qing, the first pathologist in Shandong Province who obtained the Doctoral Degree in Pathology. The department provides consulting services to clients in the whole province. As to the cancer therapies, the hospital provides different services, for instance, radiological, chemotherapeutic, surgical, immunological and traditional Chinese Medical treatments. Qianfoshan Hospital established the special consulting center for liver diseases in 1987. Experts in Shandong Province are invited to provide integrated medical consultancy. A number of patients with liver problems have benefited from these services, and the center wins the reputation in professional societies and in public.
For the patients in acute or emergent conditions, the hospital provides continuing services, i.e. Dragon Services, which is consisted of the speed-provision of immediate health services called as Green Channel, timely and effective treatment & health care, and the prolonged care in following of the acute or emergent care. The Dragon Service is very popular, whereas the design of the new building for Outpatient Department especially the Emergency Center facilitates its healthcare provision to the patients in acute or emergent health conditions. Efficient, cost-effective and convenient health services are of characteristic of the emergency care in Qianfoshan Hospital. Through persistent efforts, the hospital becomes the unique triage “120” center in Shandong Province.
As to the academic competency in Qianfoshan Hospital, hundreds of staff take the responsibilities of teaching and supervising. There are 124 professors or associate professors, of whom 86 are master or doctoral supervisors. The hospital is awarded with more than 30 research grants every year and on average, more than ten original research articles are published in journals cited by Science Citation Index. Qianfoshan Hospital is proactive and active in developing academic exchange programs with institutions in foreign countries. As a matter of fact, more than Chinese Yuan 1.5 millions is invested in staff development each year.
The last but not the least, Qianfoshan Hospital is famous at gathering donation. It has won the title of Provincial Donation Hospital and established the Shandong Provincial Loving Donation Foundation.
